In October or Early Spring I will be joinging the Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe Voyaging Society (HOCVS) on the final voyage from Layson Island to Kure Atol. The voyage is the final step in a series of voyages that started on the Big Island and will finish on Kure. This voyage wil be 475 miles and will take aproxamately 90 continuous hours of paddling, Once we reach Kure Atol, the members of the HOCVS will conduct a beach clean up, Many thousands of pounds of trash litter the atol, deleiverd there by the wind and currents, Because of the remote location removal of the debris is extreemly expensive. We use the ocean each day it is our responsbility to keep it clean, The Northwest chain of the Hawaiian islands is one of the most pristine ecosystems in the world, Our clean up will help preserve this fragile environment.
